Ben
Willems,
M.S., L.AC.
Ben
is a Licensed Acupuncturist
and Chinese Herbologist.
He practices Traditional
Chinese Medicine
(TCM) which incorporates
the use of Acupuncture,
Chinese herbs, Tuina
massage (acupressure),
and other techniques
(including Reiki)
to restore the body's
natural balance.
It is based on the
principle that the
body consists of
Qi, or Vital Energy.
Today's fast-paced,
high stress lifestyles
can lead to imbalance,
which may manifest
as pain, discomfort,
or disease. Ben's
goal is to restore
and maintain balance
in the body and as
a result improve
your health.
Some commonly treated conditions include (but are not limited to):
- Pain: headaches, migraines, sciatica, arthritis, trauma/overuse (e.g. carpal tunnel), fibromyalgia, sports injuries
- Psychological: depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress
- Gynecological: menopause, menstrual irregularities, PMS, fertility
- Respiratory: asthma, allergies
- Digestive
disturbances: nausea, constipation,
acid reflux, weight control
- Skin Disorders: Facial
Rejuvenation ("Acupuncture face-lift"), scar tissue,

In addition
to the issues listed above, Ben also works on "difficult
to treat" conditions
such as Multiple
Sclerosis, Diabetes, Cancer, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's
disease.

Ben is originally from the Netherlands and has been
living in the U.S. since 1997. He holds a Master's
degree in Environmental Health Sciences and TCM. He
used to work as a scientist for the Federal Government
on skin and breast cancer research. He has taught at
Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
Emperors College (both in Los Angeles, CA) and Atlantic
University of Chinese Medicine (Asheville, NC). Ben
has been working in the field of Healing Arts for 10
years.
NOTE: Ben practices
at Sunshine Health one weekend a month. At other times
he can be reached at his office in Asheville, NC at
